Reflexology is known to be more than 5,000 years old, when early Indians, Chinese and Egyptians first practiced on the feet as a way of promoting good health. It made its way to the West in the early 19th Century and has developed into an effective, recognised and respected alternative therapy.
It works on the concept that energy lines run through the body vertically, from the head to the feet and down into the hands. All organs, systems and parts of the body find their reciprocal reflex in the feet.
By having the whole body represented in the feet, reflexology offers a means of treating the whole body and treating the body as a whole. The latter point is an important factor of a natural therapy and allows not only the symptoms to be treated, but also the causes of the symptoms.
